I am an artist with a passion for various art forms that have shaped my creative journey since my early 20's. Over the years, I have explored pottery, wire work, painting, and jewellery making, giving me an outlet for some artistic expression, but my career constraints limited me from fully dedicating myself to art until I finally found the opportunity to immerse myself in painting while owning and curating my own art gallery, sadly now closed.
Growing up and spending a significant portion of my life in Africa, I developed a profound connection to the continent's landscapes, which intuitively inspire my work and my artistic focus encompasses African -and now British- landscapes, sunsets and African people going about their daily business. In this I try to capture the essence and beauty of the natural world and peoples every day activities in Africa. My current residence in the UK now also influences my artistic vision, as I paint scenes from both regions, showcasing a diverse range of environments. I am compulsively attracted to colour, light, shapes and patterns so while I am not abstract, I instinctively paint with pattern in the scene somewhere.
My preferred style can be described as expressive realism, a blend of realism in which I try to give emotional depth, infusing my work with colour and energy. Drawing from my personal experiences and memories, I create depictions of African scenes and UK landscapes, translating them onto canvas, primarily using oils. My paintings are based on my own photographs, ensuring that I capture the essence of the moment with a personal touch.
The culmination of my artistic journey came in 2023 when I achieved a significant milestone in my career. My painting titled "On the Road 2" was accepted for display in the prestigious Royal Academy of Art Summer Exhibition 2023. The artwork was sold on the opening night..
