Drawn to Japanese and oriental art and inspired by iconic artists Daquian and Tohaku. Poole delves in to Beauty and balance and the effect it has on the viewer, taking the onlooker to another world inspired by glowing gold leafed screens and delicate sumi ink art on washi paper . Trying to capture the essence and energy of us as humans and interactions with nature and the environment. Poole’s work is a reflection of memories and emotions, of places glimpsed or visited, sometimes in the flesh but often in the imagination. Trying to take not simply the visuals but the essence and energy of us as humans and our interactions with nature and the environment. Although still visually decorative she brings a vibrant dichotomy of east and western visuals with a joi de vivre .
Nowadays she works more organically either starting with an abstract image and taking the image to a more traditional place.. or the opposite beginning with a traditional Japanese composition culminating in the slightly more abstract but using symbols and and nature to bring the prices together/
She works from Victoria works studios in Stroud and is always willing to do a studio tour and takes commissions
